Clay classes

Step into a world where earth, fire, and pigment come together in a centuries-old dance of beauty and meaning. In this hands-on tile painting workshop, you’ll trace the footsteps of master artisans from Multan, Kashan, and Iznik—regions where tilework once adorned mosques, palaces, and shrines, whispering stories of devotion, geometry, and floral abundance.
Guided by artist Asma, you’ll explore a curated selection of traditional Islamic patterns—from delicate biomorphic vines to mesmerizing geometric stars—rooted in the visual languages of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. Using Amaco underglazes in place of traditional cobalt and copper for safety, you’ll bring these timeless designs to life on your own 6x6 inch ceramic tile.
Once painted, your tile will travel to Asma’s studio, where it will be glazed and kiln-fired to preserve its brilliance for years to come. Two weeks later, your artwork will be ready for collection—a luminous fragment of history shaped by your own hand.
All materials are lovingly provided. Just bring your curiosity, your spirit, and a willingness to lose yourself in the rhythm of brush and pattern.
